One to one training versus group classes
Group classes and private training are not competing products, they suit different dogs. Putting the wrong dog in the wrong format wastes money and sometimes makes the problem worse.
Choose a group class for a stable, sociable puppy or a young dog learning basics around mild distraction. Choose one to one if your dog is reactive, anxious, aggressive, or if you have a specific problem that needs a plan. A reactive dog in a hall full of dogs rehearses the exact behaviour you are trying to remove.
Where group classes shine
Cost, routine, and practising around other dogs in a controlled setting. For a well adjusted puppy that is often exactly right.
Where one to one wins
Everything specific. Reactivity, anxiety, guarding, recall failures in real environments and household management. You get the full session rather than a share of it, and the work happens where the problem lives.
A common sequence
Plenty of owners start with private sessions to fix the pressing issue, then move into group or public environments for proofing once the dog can cope.
